The key professional figure for remediation
Who is the Expert?
The Radon Remediation Expert is a technical professional (engineer, architect, surveyor) registered with their order or college who has attended a qualifying course of 60 hours recognized by the Ministry. This figure was introduced by D.Lgs 101/2020 to guarantee effective and certified remediation interventions.
When is it mandatory?
It is mandatory to appoint an Expert when the annual average radon concentration exceeds 300 Bq/m³. In this case, the employer must entrust the Expert with the design of corrective measures, which must be implemented within 24 months and verified with new measurements.
What do they do concretely?
The Expert performs a technical inspection, analyzes radon entry routes (cracks, joints, penetrations), designs the most suitable solution (depressurization, crawl space, ventilation), and supervises the works. Upon completion, they draft a technical report certifying the effectiveness of the intervention.
